Badgers in eighth after first day of Schenkel Invitational


STATESBORO, Ga. – After 18 holes at the 44th Schenkel Invitational, the Wisconsin men’s golf team is in eighth place. 

The Badgers made par in the opening round, led by Coalter Smith and Blake Wisdom who each shot a one-under 71. Individual competitor, Daniel Aas, is tied for first among the 84 golfers at the invitational after shooting a new career-low 18-hole score of 66. 

Friday, March 15

Round 1

Wisconsin made par in the first round of the invitational with a 288, placing them in eighth at the end of the day. 

Competing as an individual, Aas tallied a new career-low 18-hole score of 66 (-6) in the opening round. The senior led all 84 golfers in the tournament in birdies with an impressive 10.

Smith and Wisdom each carded a one-under 71 to start the invitational, with Wisdom tallying six birdies. The Wisconsin duo is currently tied for 17th place. 

Jacob Beckman made par to tie for 36th, while Cameron Huss shot a two-over 74 to tie for 52nd. Spencer Turtz rounded out the lineup with a three-over 75, placing him tied for 60th.
