Women’s Golf Heads to Fresno State Classic


PULLMAN, Wash. (March 24, 2024) – The Washington State women’s golf team is set to play at the Fresno State Classic in Fresno, Calif. on March 25-26.

The Course and Tournament Format

The 2024 Fresno State Classic will be held at the Copper River Golf Club. The course will play as a par-72 at 6,276 yards.

Teams will play 36 holes on Monday, March 25 with an 8:30 a.m. PT shotgun start followed by another 18 holes on Tuesday, March 26, also starting at 8:30 a.m.

The Field

In addition to Washington State and host Fresno State, Arkansas State, Sacramento State, UC Riverside, UC Irvine, Utah Valley, Cal Baptist, UAB, Colorado State, Pepperdine, GCU, Nevada, Fullerton, Gonzaga, Hawaii, Cal Poly, Rutgers, UC Davis and Northern Arizona will also make up the 20-team field.

Last Time Out

The Cougs last competed in the Silicon Valley Showcase on March 11-12, finishing in eighth place at 76-over, 928 at the par-71 Green Hills Country Club. Madelyn Gamble led the pack in 13th among individuals with an 11-over, 224. Sara Piñeros got some work in playing as an individual and finishing at 35-over, 248.

WSU Golf

Head Coach Sofie Aagaard is in her second season leading the Cougars. The 2023-24 Cougar squad returns four members from the 2022-23 squad, including junior Madelyn Gamble, who ended last season with a third-place finish at the 2023 Pac-12 Golf Championships.
