Gilligan Named SwingU College Player of the Month

NORMAN, Okla. – Florida men’s golfer Ian Gilligan was named the SwingU College Player of the Month for February the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced.

The honor adds to his spring hardware as he was named back-to-back SEC Golfer of the Week for his efforts this past month.

Gilligan highlighted his month by notching his fifth collegiate event and first as a Gator at the Southern Highlands Collegiate. The victory earns him an exemption into the PGA TOUR’s 2024 Shriners Open this coming October. At the tournament, he made 15 birdies and one eagle en route to his eight-under 208 (67-71-70).

His other start in February included a 3rd place finish and helping Florida win the Gators Invitational. Gilligan shot all three rounds under par (69-62-69) to finish 10-under with 14 birdies and an eagle. The native of Reno, N.V., tied the program record with a bogey-free 62 (-8), last set by Camilo Villegas in 2003.

The Gators claimed its fifth team victory of the season last week at the Schenkel Invitational and wrap up the regular season at the Calusa Cup in Naples, Fla. from April 7-9.
