CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Illini women’s golf is set to compete in the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic at the UGA Golf Course in Athens, Ga., hosted by the University of Georgia. The two-day tournament will be played on Friday, March 29, through Saturday, March 30.
THE SETTING
The Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic is held at the UGA Golf Course. The course was designed by architect Robert Trent Jones in 2006. The course will be set up for a par 72 and will play 6,315 yards long.
TOURNAMENT FORMAT
There will be 17 teams competing in the 54-hole tournament. Friday features a 7:30 a.m. CT shotgun start with 36 holes of continuous play with Saturday also beginning with a 7:30 a.m. CT shotgun start, featuring 18 holes of play.
THE FIELD
Along with the Illini, the 16-team field for the Briar’s Creek Invitational will include Alabama, Auburn, Augusta, College of Charleston, Emory, Florida, Georgia, Georgia Southern, Kansas State, Michigan, Missouri, NC State, San Diego State, SMU and Virginia.

ILLINI AT LIZ MURPHEY COLLEGIATE CLASSIC
This will be the third time overall that the Illini will compete in the Liz Murphy Collegiate Classic and the first since 1996. Illinois placed seventh as a team in the 1995 edition of the tournament and 22nd in 1996.

UP NEXT
The Illini will return to action on Saturday, April 13, where they begin play at the Therese Hession Buckeye Invitational at the OSU Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio.
