Four Advance to ANWA Final Round

Four Advance to ANWA Final Round

AUGUSTA, Ga. — After landing nine in this year’s Augusta National Women’s Amateur, Stanford women’s golf continues to make history. Four Cardinal golfers made the cut and advanced to the final round on Saturday at Augusta National, the most in program history.

Megha Ganne and Paula Martin Sampedro advance among current Stanford golfers, while Nora Sundberg and Andrea Revuelta are the future Cardinal who finished Thursday above the cut line.

Things were a bit more difficult for the entire field on Thursday, with just five golfers in the entire field finishing under par. That clustered a lot of scores at the top of the leaderboard and sent the cut line down to 3-over, where 35 golfers were able to survive and advance. Wind was one of the biggest factors, even blowing idle golf balls off their marked spot on the greens.

The best score of the day for Stanford golfers came from Martin Sampedro, as she shot a 1-over 73 to finish at 1-over through two rounds of golf, tied for 17th overall. She struggled early in the round with four early bogeys, but was able to get back on track with three birdies on the front nine (her final nine holes) to salvage her finish and advance for the first time.

Ganne is the leading Card through 36 holes, shooting an even-par through Thursday and is sitting tied for 13th overall, five strokes back of the lead. She endured an up-and-down day that featured four birdies but also five bogeys, ultimately ending her round with a 2-over 74. Still, Ganne advances to the final round for the second time in as many seasons after making the cut in 2023.

Both Nora Sundberg and Andrea Revuelta were able to make the cut, despite both finishing over par for the day. This is the first time that both have appeared in the Augusta National Women’s Amateur and thus, the first time they’ve made it to the final round.

The entire field is chasing Florida State sophomore Lottie Woad, who is 5-under and is the solo leader heading into the final round. Only four golfers are 2-under or better, with another 12 golfers sitting between even and 1-under.

All golfers in the field will play a practice round at Augusta…
