Turner Notches his second SEC Freshman of the Week


BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Florida men’s golfer Jack Tuner won the SEC Freshman of the Week honor for the second time this season. He earned the accolade after his third-place finish at the Calusa Cup and helping the Gators capture its sixth team title of the year to close out the regular-season.

 

The freshman from Orlando shot a 54-hole score of 212 (-4) including two rounds under par (69, 70). Turner also shot 12 birdies, tied for third best among the field. He also recorded his first collegiate eagle during round one on the 468-yard par-4 12th. Turner averaged 3.93 (-2) on par-3’s and 4.75 (-3) on par-5’s
 
Turner earned his first SEC Freshman of the week honor after his play in the Gators Invitational earlier this season. He finished sixth with a score of five under to secure his first weekly honor.
 
Florida now travels St. Simons, Georgia to defend its title and compete in the SEC Championship at Sea Island GC from April 24-28.
