Men’s Golf | April 11, 2024

PHOENIX — The USC men’s golf team returns to the desert to play in its final regular season event of the spring at the ASU Thunderbird Collegiate which begins on Friday (Apr. 12) in Phoenix. The two-day event will be played at Papago Golf Club, with the first two rounds taking place on Friday and the final round wrapping up on Saturday.

In 2023, tournament host Arizona State took home the title defeating the field of 16 teams at 28-under, a margin of 1-stroke in front of second place Arizona.

The Trojans, who have never appeared in this event, look to finish out the regular season on a strong note as they continue to rise after a successful fourth place finish at The Cowboy Classic. USC will face off against a competitive field comprised No. 4 Arizona State, No. 11 Arizona, Baylor, Colorado, Houston, No. 19 New Mexico, No. 13 Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, SMU, San Francisco, No. 8 Texas Tech, UCLA, Utah, No. 6 Washington and Washington State.

Originally designed and built in 1963 by Billy Bell, the famed architect of Torrey Pines, Papago Golf Club serves as the home to ASU’s men’s and women’s golf teams. The course, which is
designed in Bell’s signature seamless style, boasts urban and natural scenery, offering views of Arizona’s Papago Buttes, Camelback Mountain, and downtown Phoenix. The setup, which will play at 7,551 yards, par 71, offers bermuda putting surface and bermuda fairways surrounded by natural desert surrounds.
