USC Women’s Golf Prepares to Defend its Crown at the Last Pac-12 Tournament

LOS ANGELES—No. 9 USC women’s golf searches to regain its Pac-12 Championship title, as the Women of Troy compete in their final Pac-12 Tournament starting on Sunday, Apr. 21 at the Palouse Ridge Golf Club in Pullman, Wash.
 
COMPETITIVE SLATE (11): Arizona, Arizona St, California, Colorado, Oregon, Stanford, UCLA, USC, Utah, Washington, Washington St

WHERE: Palouse Ridge Golf Club (Par 72, 6,324 yards).

 

WHEN: The three-day stroke play event will begin Sunday, Apr. 21, at 9:20 a.m. PT. Each round will be 18 holes, and the final round will be played on Tuesday, Apr. 23.

Catherine Park 
 
The sophomore is on the rise, as she is ranked No. 24th in the World Amateur Golf Rankings and No. 14 in the collegiate golf individual rankings. Park’s increase in the rankings is due to her latest tournament (Silverado Showdown) where she led the Trojans to their third team title, and she tied for the individual title. Park is first on the squad with a 71.05 stroke average and has seven top-25 and five top-ten finishes in eight stroke-play tournaments. 

Amari Avery

 

The junior is the 20th-ranked collegiate golfer in the Division I Women’s golf individual rankings and the 22nd-ranked player in the World Amateur Rankings. The junior heads into the tournament as one of the top performers in the Pac-12 Tournament last season as she had a tied for 3rd finish which helped lead the Trojans to their eighth Pac-12 title. Recently, Avery finished 11th at the Silverado Showdown as she is second on the squad with a 71.07 stroke average. 

Bailey Shoemaker

 

The freshman has been one of the most successful players for the Women of Troy this year as she earned five top-25 finishes this season. Shoemaker is currently averaging 72.78 strokes per round with the second-most birdies on the squad with 63. Shoemaker missed the last tournament for USC, as she was fresh off a second-place finish at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur.
