Cal Shoots 1-Under-Par As A Team

PULLMAN, Wash. – In the second round of the Pac-12 Championships on Monday, the California women’s golf team finished 19 strokes better than it did the previous day, posting a 1-under-par 287 team score to move up to 10th place with 18 holes to go at Palouse Ridge Golf Club.

Cal was one of nine teams to shoot under par in round two, representing a huge departure from Sunday’s opening round which ended with 10 of 11 teams at least five shots over par. The Golden Bears got 1-under days from Constance Fouillet, Adora Liu and Olivia Lee, all of whom head into round three in the top 30 individually.

Fouillet (74-71 – 145) and Liu (75-71 – 146) had identical scores through the first 11 holes of round two, putting away birdies on holes 11, 15, 17. Fouillet ended the round with her fourth birdie of the day on hole 9, putting her in 21st place at 1-over 145. Among the tournament field, she is tied for first in pars (26) and sixth in par-5 score (-3).

Lee (75-71 – 146) repeated her outstanding start from Sunday, once again going 2-under on the first nine holes despite the Bears’ round-two starting spot switching to hole 10. She and Liu finished with the same score for the second straight day and are tied for 28th place at 2-over 146.

Senior Rina Tatematsu matched Fouillet and Liu’s birdie totals with four of her own, putting away three out of five between holes 2 and 6. She carded a 2-over 74 for the day to add to the Bears’ team score.

Cal tees off the final round tomorrow between 9:10-9:50 a.m. PT.
