Badgers tied for fourth after first day of Big Ten Championships


COLUMBUS, Ohio – After 18 holes at the 2024 Big Ten Championships, the Wisconsin men’s golf team is tied for fourth place with Indiana and Illinois at 10-over par. 

Jacob Beckman paces the Badgers as the redshirt sophomore made par to finish out the first round tied for fifth place. Beckman is just three strokes behind Michigan State’s August Meekhof who is in first. 

Northwestern currently leads the Big Ten (E), while Michigan State (+6) and Purdue (+8) sit in second and third. 

Friday, April 26

Round 1

The Badgers open up the Championships with a 290 (+10), placing the team tied for fourth. 

Beckman made par with three birdies in the opening round, placing him tied for fifth. Cameron Huss also cracked the top-15 as the senior shot a two-over 72 to tie for 14th.

Daniel Aas shot a three-over 73 to tie for 23rd, while Blake Wisdom carded a five-over 75 to finish out the opening round tied for 40th. Coalter Smith rounded out the lineup with a six-over 76 (T50).
