Spartans Finish in Fourth Place at Big Ten Men's Golf Championships

East Lansing, Mich. – Junior Ashton McCulloch and senior August Meekhof finished among the top-5 individuals overall and Michigan State’s men’s golf team finished in fourth place among 14 teams at the Big Ten Championships, held at Scioto Country Club in Columbus, Ohio.

The three-day, 54-hole event was played on the par-70, 7,240 course in central Ohio that was the club where golf’s greatest player, Jack Nicklaus, learned the game.

The Spartans were in second place through the first two days of play and entered the final round just three shots off the pace of first-place Northwestern. MSU struggled in the final round, finishing with a 32-over par 312.

Northwestern led the championship from start to finish and topped the 14-team field at 23-over par 863 (280-294-289). Illinois finished in second place (38-over par 878), with Purdue in third place (46-over par 886), Michigan State in fourth place (49-over par 889) and Ohio State rounded out the top-five teams.
