Terrapins Earn All-Big Ten Honors


ROSEMONT, IL — Senior Patricie Mackova and sophomore Nicha Kanpai of the Maryland women’s golf team earned All-Big Ten honors Tuesday. Mackova earned First Team honors and Kanpai was named to the Second Team.

Mackova, a biochemistry major, earned First team honors for the third straight season. She picked up an individual win at the Texas Showdown earlier this month and has seven top 20 finishes this season. At last week’s Big Ten Championships, she finished tied for 17th and shot a 68 in the final round.

Kanpai, a nutrition and food science major, earned All-Big Ten honors for the second straight season after being named to the First Team last year. Kanpai won the individual title at the Chevron Collegiate in February and has five top 20 finishes this season. She also tied for 17th at the Big Ten Championships.

Fifth-year senior Maria Vittoria Corbi earned a Big Ten Sportsmanship Award.

Maryland earned its second straight NCAA Regionals bid as a team last week, earning the No. 7 seed in the Bryan Regional. The Terrapins will compete in NCAA Regionals May 6-8 at Traditions Club in Bryan, Texas.
