Bobby Jones Links has been chosen to manage Green Oaks Country Club in Verona, Pennsylvania. The company will also begin implementing new programming events and member communication platforms immediately.
The course features a par-71 Donald Ross design that was originally a nine-hole layout, but was changed into 18 holes in 1913 by Ross after a petition from the membership. The full course opened in the fall of 1914.
“Pittsburgh is a very golf rich market with an excellent history and Green Oaks is part of that with a classic Donald Ross design and a strong legacy,” said Doug Hellman, chief development officer at Bobby Jones Links. “The club is extremely accessible and it offers a top-notch course and playing experience, as well as a fully amenitized clubhouse with a large members grill, pool, tennis, and new pickleball courts. The board is intent on continuing to elevate the member value proposition through the execution of a strategic capital improvement plan.”
Bobby Jones Links was chosen by executive board of Green Oaks after a thorough search determined that their expertise in navigating growth and developing staff with key leaders in critical roles was key to long-term success.
Green Oaks prides itself on a welcoming environment and showcases its historical and vintage characteristics. A new irrigation system was installed, trees were removed, and parts of the course were opened up to allow members to appreciate the course layout. There are no homes along the fairways and topography and elevation changes give the course character and challenge.
“We’re enthusiastic about the future at Green Oaks with Bobby Jones Links managing the club’s operations,” said Club President Marc Olin. “The level of complexity that has come with the club’s consistent growth over the past three years made it clear that we needed some help. I expect the member experience to be elevated by BJL’s management and team-building skills and that they will optimize the club’s service delivery.”
