CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Thomas Detry, coming off the best finish in a major for his career at PGA Championship last week at Valhalla, headlines a busy week for Fighting Illini touring professionals.
PGA TOUR
Detry tied for fourth at the PGA Championship in the eighth start in a major of his career. It marked his third top-five finish of the season, and the performance moved him to 20th in the FedEx Cup standings while vaulting him to a career-best 54th in the Official World Golf Rankings.

He’ll tee off this week, alongside Nick Hardy, at the Charles Schwab Challenge, held at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas. Both Detry and Hardy made the cut at last season’s event, with Detry posting a T21 finish and Hardy finishing T48.
DP WORLD TOUR
While Detry is competing in the Lone Star State, a trio of his countrymen and fellow Illini – Matthis Besard, Adrien Dumont de Chassart, and Thomas Pieters – are welcoming the DP World Tour to their home country of Belgium for the 2024 Soudal Open.

Besard and Dumont de Chassart, each in their rookie seasons on the DP World Tour and PGA Tour, respectively, will play in the event for the first time. Pieters finished T9 at the event in 2022.
PGA TOUR CHAMPIONS
Illini legend Steve Stricker also returns to the course where he will defend his title at the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship at Harbor Shores Resort in Benton Harbor, Mich.
Stricker’s win at last year’s event was one of six during the 2023 campaign. He is in search of his first win of the 2024 season.
