Dawgs Wrap Day One Of Stanford Intercollegiate

STANFORD, Calif. – The Washington women’s golf team was led by Vivian Lu on Friday, who shot two under par in round one to lead the Huskies at the Stanford Intercollegiate.

Lu shot five under par on the front nine to lead the Dawgs in a tie for seventh overall, while Mads Smith finished even on the day.

The tournament hosts lead the way after one day of action, with Stanford -11, leading three teams under par (USC, -4; Virginia, -1).

“I’m really proud of the group today and especially pleased for Carmen,” said Head Coach Mary Lou Mulflur. “To see her having fun out there is key for her. We got off to a bit of a slow start, but they were patient and hung in there. Viv and Mads were extremely disciplined out there. Jenny hasn’t competed in a while, so it was good to see her shake the rust off. Kennedy was steady, just a couple different decisions and her round is much better. We have a quick turnaround for tomorrow’s round, and we will be ready.”

Washington will open the second round Saturday morning at 8:25 at Stanford Golf Course along with LSU and Arizona State off hole one.

Saturday’s Schedule:

8:25 a.m. – Carmen Lim

8:36 a.m. – Jenny Chang

8:47 a.m. – Kennedy Knox

8:58 a.m. – Mads Smith

9:09 a.m. – Vivian Lu
