USC Men’s Golf is Tied for Fifth After First Day of Arizona N.I.T.

TUCSON, Ariz. – USC men’s golf sits tied for fifth out of 14 squads after the second round of day one was suspended due to darkness; the Trojans are off to a solid start, as they were 13-under par overall with a 284 (-4) in round one and currently nine-under-par in round two on Monday, Feb. 3, at the Omni Tucson National Resort.

In the first round, USC counted 70-70-72-72 (284) and currently has a 236 (-9) in the second round. BYU leads the tournament at 35-under par. 

Senior Gavin Aurilia currently leads the Trojans through the middle portion of the second round as he is five-under-par total and tied for 12th in the field. The senior posted the leading score in the first round, 70 (-2), and followed that by going three-under par through 16 holes. Aurilia mainly found success on the back nine, as he has tallied six birdies and is four-under par through 18 holes on the backside.

Freshman Jaden Dumdumaya, making his second career start, sits at four-under par and tied for 18th in the field. Dumdumaya found the majority of his success in the second round, as he is four under par through 15 holes and four under par overall. 

In his return to the lineup, sophomore Nicolas Dominguez is taking advantage of his opportunities and is currently at two-under-par overall. The sophomore is also two-under par in the second round through 15 holes and has four birdies, with his only blemish being a double bogey on hole No. 18. 

Sophomore Jack Jerge was one of the counting scores in the first round with a 70 (-2), as he put up five birdies on the back nine. He has had a little more trouble in the second round as he is currently three-over par through 16 holes. He is one-over par overall and is tied with junior Antonio Safa for 48th. Safa rounded out the lineup in the first round at one-over par and is even-par through 16 holes in the second. 

USC will resume the second round and finish the Arizona N.I.T. tomorrow at the Omni Tucson National Resort.
