Lewin’s three-round score of 15-under par is tied for the second-lowest score related to par in program history.
As a team, NC State shot 37-under par in the tournament. It’s the program’s best score related to par since April 2021 when the Pack shot 51-under to win the Stitch Intercollegiate at MacGregor Downs Country Club.
Lewin fired back-to-back rounds of four-under par 68 on Monday and then followed it up with a seven-under par 65 in the final round on Tuesday to finish in third place out of 84 golfers.
Lewin has started the spring season on fire as he has registered a sixth place and third place finish in the Pack’s two tournaments this spring and has shot a combined 25-under par in his first six rounds of the spring season.
Next up for the Pack at the Johnnie-O was Rylan Shim with a score eight-under par. Like Lewin, Shim shot below par in all three rounds, opening the event with a four-under par 68 and then finished with back-to-back rounds of 70.
Shim joined NC State over winter break and in two tournaments with the Pack this semester has shot a combined 20-under par and has a third place and 17th place finish.
Joey Lenane was next for the Pack, two shots back of Shim in a tie for 27th place. Lenane got better every round at Sea Island, firing an even par 72 to open, before improving two shots to a 70 in the second round and then took another two shots off his score in the final round with a four-under par 68.
Like Lenane, Xander Goboy played his best on the final day, shooting a three-under par 69 to move 11 spots up the leaderboard into a tie for 41st place with a three-day score of three-under par.
Markus Varjun rounded out the NC State lineup in a tie for 45th place with a three-day score of two-under par.
Georgia Southern and Florida Gulf Coast tied for the tournament title, five shots ahead of NC State. Minnesota and Kansas finished two shots ahead of NC State in a tie for third place.
The Pack is back in action this coming weekend when it travels to Myrtle Beach to play in the Michael A. Marino.
