Maryland Finishes Third at Terps Invitational


COLLEGE PARK, MD — The Maryland women’s golf team finished third out of 16 teams competing in the second annual Terps Invitational event Monday at the University of Maryland Golf Course.

Sophomore Anna Pillard led the Terps and finished tied for sixth individually with a score of 218 (73-72-73), which was +2. She made five birdies and parred or birdied 48 of 54 holes in the event.

Seniors Surapa Janthamunee, Daniela Burgos Ortega and freshman Noa Terroba Toro all tied for 18th with scores of 222, which was six strokes over par. Janthamunee went 77-74-71, Burgos Ortega went 75-74-73 and Terroba Toro, competing as an individual, went 77-70-75.

Sophomore Chananyu Chowiwattana tied for 23rd with a score of 223 (73-73-77), which was +7.

Competing as an individual, junior Julia Garcia shot a score of 234 (77-79-78). Freshman Celeste Mangeat, competing as an individual, earned a score of 234 (81-81-72). Freshman Emily McKee also shot a 234 (80-74-80). S

Maryland earned a score of 885 (298-293-294), which was +21. The Terps beat Big Ten conference foes Wisconsin, Michigan, Penn State. 

Next, the Terps will compete in the Big Ten Championships April 24-26 at the Oakmont Country Club in Glendale, Calif.
