Louisville in Second Place at NCAA Athens Regional Heading into Final Round


ATHENS, Ga. – The University of Louisville men’s golf team is in second place at the NCAA Athens Regional after the first two rounds. The Cardinals are -19 with one round left to play.
 
Cooper Claycomb carded an impressive 5-under-par 66 on the day, putting together a bogey-free front nine and ending with six birdies and just one bogey on the day. He is -8 overall, sitting in a tie for fourth place.
 
Easton Johnson got off to a hot start, posting a bogey-free front nine and ending the round with a 4-under-par 67 to move up 25 spots on the leaderboard. Warren Thomis and Brady Smith are neck-and-neck, sitting at -4 and -3, respectively. Andrew Tan has held steady, carding a 1-over-par 72 on the day.
 
Louisville will play one more round tomorrow, starting at 8:00 a.m. ET off hole No. 1 alongside No. 13 Vanderbilt and No. 1 Auburn. The Cards are looking to clinch a top five finish to advance to the NCAA Championships for the first time since 2021.
