With an under par round today, the Deacs marked their lowest round ever at La Costa Country Club and best round yet this championship year. The Demon Deacons have totaled 29 birdies across the two days of competition, tied fifth in the field of 30.
At two under for the day, junior Macy Pate posted Wake Forest’s low round, with an under par front nine and four birdies. Pate jumped 59 spots and sits at an even par through 36 holes. Carding the other under par score for the Deacs, graduate student Morgan Ketchum turned in an under par back nine and birdied two of the three final holes of the day, climbing 34 spots.
Sophomore Chloe Kovelesky and freshman Cartoon Rujiranan recorded matching rounds at one over and four birdies apiece. Kovelesky totaled four birdies throughout the morning, with back-to-back holes under par on holes 15 and 16. Senior Anne-Sterre den Dunnen improved her previous round one score by four strokes, rounding out her day with a birdie on hole 18.
Focus on Top 15
The Deacs look to tomorrow’s final round to push into the cutline, with first tee off at 3:12 p.m. ET. Wake Forest will be paired with Baylor and Auburn, with live streaming available via Babygrande Golf.
