West Point, Miss. – The Missouri women’s golf team sits in ninth place after 36 holes at The Ally, hosted by Mississippi State.
The Tigers totaled a score of 608 on Monday and is in a group of teams where just six strokes separate fourth and ninth place (Mizzou has a seven-stroke lead over 10th place).
Freshman Melanie Walker finished the day in the top 20, carding a 150 to place 19th overall. The rookie opened the day with a 76 in the first 18 holes before adding a 74 during round two’s action behind four birdies in the final nine holes.
Graduate Sky Sload and senior Olivia Sowers each carded the low round for MU on the day with a 73. Sowers posted her top round during the opening 18 holes, taking advantage of five birdies, before finishing with a 156 overall. Sload followed suit in the second round with her 73, connecting on two birdies with zero bogeys in her final nine holes, for a total score of 151 and just one stroke behind Walker.
Emily Staples added a 156 on the day behind a second-round 74, while Sophia Yoemans chipped in with a 160.
The final round of the tournament is set for tomorrow morning in Mississippi.
