Alabama Freshmen Duo Leads the Way in Day One of The Ally

WEST POINT, Miss. – Freshmen Kynadie Adams and Taylor Kehoe are tied for ninth overall to lead the Alabama women’s golf team on day one of The Ally, which is being held on the par 72, 6,353-yard Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point, Miss. As a team, the Crimson Tide will enter Tuesday’s third and final round of play in seventh with a 605 (307-298).

The day was highlighted by an albatross – a double eagle score of two on a par 5 – from Adams, which occurred on the 485-yard par 5 ninth hole. The Nashville, Tenn., native holed out a 3 wood from 224 yards away to collect the rare score. She finished the day with consecutive rounds of 1-over par 73 for a 4-over 146 on the day.

Meanwhile, Kehoe shot season-best marks for both 18 holes – even par 72 in round one – and 36 holes with her with a 36-hole total of 4-over 146, also a season-best mark.

The Lineup

  • In addition to her albatross, one of the rarest occurrences in golf, Adams has seven birdies which leads the team and is tied for fourth-most in the field
  • It was Adams’ second eagle (double eagle) this year and the Tide’s fifth for the season
  • Kehoe leads the field in par 3 scoring through 36 holes played (-2, 2.75)
  • Benedetta Moresco, the reigning medalist from the same tournament a year ago, is in a tie for 38th with at 154 (80-74)
  • Sarah Edwards (82-77) and Isabella van der Biest (82-77) are tied for 50th overall with matching scores of 159

The Field

  • No. 30 SMU, the only team to finish the opening day below par, leads the field by six shots after shooting a 3-under 573
  • No. 7 Ole Miss (+3, 579) is in second followed by tournament host and No. 3-ranked Mississippi State (+15, 591)
  • Illinois and Old Dominion are tied for fourth (+26, 602) with Indiana (+27, 603) finishing two shots better than the Tide
