Boutier, Maguire Open 2023 LPGA Tour Season This Week


DURHAM – The 2023 LPGA Tour season officially kicks off this week with the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions and the Duke women’s golf program will be represented by Celine Boutier and Leona Maguire.

The event features a limited field for the opener with 29 competitors along with an impressive celebrity list of participants.  All golfers will play 72 holes of stroke play over four days, Jan. 19-22, at the Lake Nona Golf and Country Club in Orlando, Fla. The purse for the professional golfers will be $1.5 million with the winner taking home $225,000.  

Fans will be able to watch the event live on the Golf Channel all four days.  On Jan. 19-20, there will be live coverage from 12-3 p.m., followed by coverage on Jan. 21-22 from 2-3 p.m., on Golf Channel and 3-5 p.m., on NBC.  

Duke will feature a total of eight former Blue Devils on the 2023 LPGA Tour slate with Ana Belac, Jaravee Boonchant, Boutier, Lindy Duncan, Gina Kim, Brittany Lang, Yu Liu and Maguire.  

Blue Devil golfers have featured tremendous success in the professional ranks over the years earning a total of $23,455,578 to go along with 29 wins.  

Following the opening tournament this week, the LPGA will play in Thailand (Feb. 23-26), Singapore (March 2-5) and China (March 9-12), before returning to the United States March 23-26 for the LPGA Drive on Championship in Arizona.
