TUCSON, Ariz. – The Arizona NIT, the program’s annual home tournament in March, is set for its 20th year of competition, beginning on Friday, March 17 at Omni Tucson National. The 2023 field is loaded with an elite field that includes seven ranked teams in addition to the No. 18 Arizona Wildcats. The Cats will look to continue their strong play in the 2022-23 season with three runner-up finishes as a team, which includes twice in its last three events.
“Obviously there is an elevated level of excitement heading into a home tournament, and we have an eager group of guys who are ready to go out and compete,” said head coach Jim Anderson. “This weekend will be a high-level college golf tournament that will create a tremendous environment for our team to compete in on an elite course like Omni Tucson National. I look forward to watching our team go shot for shot with the best of the best in college golf.”
The Wildcats will look to flip the script on its recent Arizona NIT history after finishing in fifth place in 2022 and 2021. Senior Chase Sienkiewicz is Arizona’s top returner in this event, placing in the top 25 a year ago at 4-under par.
In last year’s tournament, departed graduate senior Christian Banke lit up the leaderboard en route to a second-place finish at 15-under par. He fueled an Arizona team that would finish 26-under par.
The event is open to the public with free admission for fans. Teams will play 36 holes on Friday before capping the tournament with 18 on Saturday.
