The 40 yard pitch shot can be one of the toughest shots in golf. Frankly, it tends to be my personal nemesis. Any time I see my scores start to swell, it’s usually due to a few failed instances from this distance. I know that when I’m on my game from 40 yards I will consistently hit the middle of the club face, I will have complete control over the ball flight, and a surprising amount of spin.
