Sheehan and Olsakovsky Earn NCAA Regionals Bids


Penn State men’s golf junior Patrick Sheehan and graduate student Lou Olsakovsky have both been announced as individual qualifiers for the 2022 NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Regionals and will compete May 16-18 at Ohio State Golf Club in Columbus, Ohio.
 
Sheehan, a second team All-Big Ten selection, put together a stellar junior campaign in which he led the Nittany Lions with a 70.79 stroke average. The Doylestown, Pa. native collected six top-10 finishes and eight top-15 finishes while competing in 11 events throughout the 2021-22 season. He is ranked No. 95 in the most recent Golfweek/Sagarin rankings.
 

Olsakovsky gets the chance to continue his stellar Penn State career at NCAA Regionals. The graduate student ranked second on the team this season with a 71.79 stroke average. He collected six top-15 finishes throughout his final season in the Blue &White, including a pair of top-10 placements.
 

The six regional host sites for the 2022 championship include Traditions Club in Bryan, Texas (Texas A&M, host); OSU Golf Club – Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio (Ohio State, host); Yale Golf Course in New Haven, Connecticut (Yale, host); PGA National Resort – Champions Course in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida (Florida Atlantic, host); The Reserve at Spanos Park in Stockton, California (Pacific, host) and the Jimmie Austin Golf Club (Oklahoma, host), with play taking place May 16-18.
 
Thirteen teams and 10 individuals not on those teams were selected to compete at three regionals while the other three regionals will feature 14 teams and five individuals not on those teams. The top five teams (30 teams total) and the low individual not on an advancing team (six individuals total) from each regional site will advance to play in the championships at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona on May 27–June 1.
 
Competing in the team field at the Ohio State Regional, in order of seed, are Oklahoma State, Georgia Tech, Arkansas, Clemson, East Tennessee State, Ohio State, Duke, Northwestern, Florida Gulf Coast, San Francisco, Kentucky, Wright State and Southern Illinois.
