PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State Women’s Golf Head Coach Sofie Aagaard announced the Cougar’s 2022-23 schedule Thursday, August 11. The Cougs will play in a total of 10 regular season tournaments, as they enter their first season under Aagaard’s direction. Washington State will also be one of the six host sites for the 2023 NCAA Women’s Golf Regionals, which take place May 8-10.
The 2022-23 slate features four tournaments in the fall and six spring tournaments. The season gets underway Sept. 18-10 in Madison, Wisconsin for the Badger Invitational. It will be the second-straight year that Washington State opens a season at the University Ridge Golf Club, as the Cougs finished fifth at the 2022 edition of the Badger Invitational.
“We are looking forward to starting the 2022-23 season,” expressed Aagaard. “It is a schedule fit for this experienced team of strong returning players and the addition of three highly competitive freshmen.”
After the Badger Invitational, Washington State travels to Wolcott, Colorado to play in the Red Sky Classic on Sept. 28-29. The Cougars will then take a three-week break before returning to action on Oct. 17-18 to participate in the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational in Lawrence, Kansas. WSU wraps up the fall during the week of Halloween, as the Cougars will make their annual trip to Kailua-Kona, Hawaii for the Pac-12 Preview.
“With a strong fall schedule covering different strengths of fields, a great variety of courses, and challenging environments. It’s designed to build on our competitive skills leading up to the championship part of our season in the spring,” said Aagaard.
The Cougars open the spring in Sin City, as WSU is set to participate in The Show in Las Vegas Feb. 20-21. Washington State will then head to Davis, California the following week to play in the UC Davis Tournament (Feb. 27-28).
The Cougs kick off the month of March in Fairfax, California for the Meadow Club Invitational (March 6-7). WSU will get a test run at the 2023 Pac-12 Championship course during March 24-26, as the Cougars head to Phoenix, Arizona for the PING ASU Invitational.
