Two Make Cut At ANWA

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Rose Zhang continues to amaze, as the No. 1 amateur in the world leads the Augusta National Women’s Amateur through 36 holes at 13-under. Zhang set the ANWA record with a 6-under 66 on Wednesday during the first round at Champions Retreat, and then broke that record with a 7-under 65 on Thursday. She leads Andrea Lignell by five shots. Cardinal freshman Megha Ganne is tied for ninth at 1-under and has also made the cut to play at Augusta National for Saturday’s final round.

Zhang has played nearly flawless golf through two rounds, totaling 12 birdies and one eagle against just one bogey. She had six birdies and 12 pars in her first round, and followed that up with six birdies, an eagle and a bogey on Thursday.

The top 30 golfers and ties advance to Saturday’s final round at Augusta National, although all 72 golfers will be afforded the opportunity to play Friday’s practice round at the historic venue, just days before The Masters.

Ganne opened with a 1-over 73 on Wednesday, but bounced back with a 2-under 70 to move inito the Top 10. Brooke Seay also returned to competition this week, but did not make the cut.

Saturday’s final round will be televised on NBC beginning at 9 a.m. PT.
