Women's Golf Completes Day One of Silverado Showdown

NAPA, Calif. – Sun Devil Women’s Golf completed day one of the Silverado Showdown hosted at Silverado Resort and Spa.

No. 9 Arizona State got off to an excellent start and sits in a tie for second place in the 17-team field after the first round. Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye‘s team made adjustments throughout the day that paid off, as they improved by 13 strokes from the front to back nine, which allowed them to solidify a spot high in the team standings. ASU trails No. 16 Northwestern by eight strokes with plenty of golf left to be played.

Leading the way individually was Amanda Linner, who is looking to become the second straight senior to end their Sun Devil regular season career with a victory, much like Alessandra Fanali did in 2022. Linner shot a 67 (-5) and is tied for first after the first 18 holes, as she looked spectacular throughout the day. Her play picked up as the day went on, eventually peaking with a five-under run on the back nine. An Eagle on the 17th hole was the highlight of the day, as Linner proved to be one of the best in an extremely competitive field.

Joining Linner in the Top-10 was freshman Paula Schulz-Hanssen, who is tied for ninth after shooting a 72 (E). Right behind her and knocking on the door of the Top-10 is sophomore Grace Summerhays, who is tied for 13th. If the improvement on the back nine is any indication of what is in store for tomorrow, Sun Devil Women’s Golf should be right in the middle of both the team and individual races. The Maroon & Gold begin their round tomorrow at 9:50 AM MST on the first hole. Live scoring for the Silverado Showdown will be provided by Golfstat at the following link.

ROUND BREAKDOWN

Arizona State started their round on the front nine as the initial group off of the first tee. It didn’t take long for the birdies to come, as Grace Summerhays, Amanda Linner, and Paula Schulz-Hanssen birdied the first hole. Beth Coulter got on the board with a birdie on the eighth hole. Both Linner and Schulz-Hanssen finished the front nine even, setting up for an even better back nine.

Calynne Rosholt started the back nine on a positive note, recording a birdie on the 10th hole. The story of the back nine was Amanda Linner, as she put together what would become one of the best stretches of golf in her career, going five-under on the back nine. That included…
