Endicott Awarded Second SEC Freshman Of The Week Honor

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Garrett Endicott has been named the SEC Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday. This is the second time this season the San Antonio, Texas, native has received the honor.

Endicott was recognized for his performance at the Mossy Oak Collegiate, his first time competing on his home course. He tied for sixth, marking his third top-10 finish and fifth top-20 finish in eight career tournaments.

“It was a great and unique experience to be able to play a tournament on our home golf course,” Endicott said. “It was a battle the entire tournament, and I felt comfortable, even when the conditions got harder. I’m just proud that we had the opportunity to compete as a team.”

Firing back-to-back scores in the 60s in the opening rounds helped Endicott shoot second-lowest tournament score of his young career (-10, 206). The freshman’s bogey-free, 5-under 67 helped his team to a school-record team score of 865 (-23) in the second round.

This marks the Bulldogs’ third SEC weekly award of the season. Along with Endicott, Austin Vukovits was also named SEC Golfer of the Week in the fall, securing his first career individual victory at the North Alabama Invite with a career-low 68 in the first round.

Entering State’s final tournament of the regular season, Endicott leads the team with a 71.17 season average and is tied with Ruan Pretorius for the most rounds of par or better (16) this year.

The Bulldogs will return to play when they travel to Franklin, Tennessee, on April 10-12 for the Mason Rudolph Championship hosted by Vanderbilt.
