All Six Bulldogs In Top 20 After First Round At Mason Rudolph

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – No. 16 Mississippi State ended the opening round of the Mason Rudolph Championship tied for second, sitting six strokes back of Vanderbilt. All six Bulldogs competing in the tournament finished the first round in the top 20, combining for 20 birdies.

“I thought we had a really solid day,” head coach Dusty Smith said. “The guys did a great job of just staying patient and letting the round come to them. I feel like you really have to do a good job of hitting your spots and plotting your way around this course. That will be key for us as we continue. We are excited for another opportunity tomorrow.”

Garrett Endicott leads the way for MSU going into the second round, tied for eighth after a 2-under 69. The freshman carded a bogey-free round and his seventh round in the 60s for the season.

Ruan Pretorius and Alejandro Pedryc both ended the day tied for 11th at 1-under. Each player showed promising finishes to their first round. Pretorius sank four birdies on his last five holes and six for the round. Pedryc birdied holes 15 and 17 followed by an eagle on 18 to end the day.

Ford Clegg, Hunter Logan and Pedro Cruz Silva are part of a 10-way tie for 18th after shooting even rounds to open the tournament. Each player carded at least three birdies for the day.

Logan will tee off first for MSU’s team groupings at 12:13 p.m. CT followed by Clegg, Pedryc, Pretorius and Endicott in 11-minute increments. Cruz Silva will tee off in the individual grouping with North Florida’s Lance Yates and Vanderbilt’s Jackson Van Paris at 11:51 a.m. CT.
