ANN ARBOR, Mich. — University of Michigan women’s golf coach Jan Dowling announced Monday (April 10), the addition of Grace Wang for the 2023-24 season. Joining the Wolverines as a walk-on, Wang joins signee Sydney Yermish as incoming freshmen for the Maize and Blue.

A Rochester Hills, Mich., native, Wang prepped at Rochester Adams playing three years under coach Jeff Kutschman. She highlighted her senior season helping Adams win the Division I State title after she finished third, earning All-State Super Team honors. After not playing varsity golf as a junior, Wang helped Adams to a runner-up state finish in 2020 and a seventh-place finish in 2019. She guided Adams to two Division I Regional 5 titles (2020, ’22) and a runner-up finish in 2019, when she was the medalist as a freshman.

“Becoming a Wolverine has been one of my dreams,” said Wang. “Now to be able to play golf for them, I cannot express how excited I am. I am beyond grateful for this opportunity from coach Jan (Dowling) and coach A.J. (Newell). I am so eager to learn from the amazing coaches and players these next few years. I can’t wait to be a part of this new experience and family. I hope I can make the Wolverine family proud!”

“We are thrilled to have Grace join our team this coming fall,” said Dowling. “She has been a dedicated athlete for most of her life, and has come into her own as a competitive golfer in the last two summers. She has achieved a lot in the junior ranks, and is ready to level up her entire game as she embarks on her collegiate career.

“She embodies what being a Michigan student-athlete looks like with her year-round dedication to academics and golf. She comes in with a great skill set on the technical side of things, so we are excited to expose her to the finer nuance of being a great collegiate player. She is driven and hungry to learn, and we know she will develop into a stellar amateur player.”

In addition to her Super Team honor, Wang earned All-State honors (2020) and honorable mention accolades (2019), was named to the Division I All-Academic team (2022) and earned two All-Academic team honors (2020, ’22). After her final season, she was named the Rochester Adams Athletic…
