RALEIGH – The NC State men’s golf team took home a second-place finish in the Stitch Intercollegiate on Tuesday, firing a 36-hole team score of 566 (-2) at the Lonnie Poole Golf Course.
Duke took home the team crown with a two-round total of 547 (-21), while NC State’s Carter Graf claimed individual honors having posted a 132 (-10).
Ten Wolfpack golfers competed in the tournament that was pushed to Tuesday after rain washed out the original 54-hole event that was scheduled for Apr. 8-9. Five members of the Pack competed as individuals, including first-place finisher Graf.
Graf used a first-round 65 (-6) to take medalist honors, following up his opening-round score with a 67 (-4) in the afternoon session.
Maximilian Steinlechner added a top-ten finish with a 71 (E) to open the tournament and a 68 (-3) in his final round. Steinlechner’s final competition as a member of the Wolfpack ended by finishing in a tie for fourth, the best amongst the five players in the Wolfpack lineup.
Brandon Einstein additionally posted a top-ten finish with a pair of 70 (-1) totals, while Joey Lenane finished just outside the top ten at 143 (+1), ending the day in a tie for 11th.
The NC State lineup was rounded out by Michael LaSasso and Spencer Oxendine each tying for 23rd place, with each posting a personal tournament-high score of 72 (+1).
Individual competitor Ethan Choi used a second-round 68 (-3) to match Einstein in a tie for sixth place, while Jake Herring finished in a tie for 27th, Nick Matthews finished in a tie for 24th, and Jake Wiktor finished at T44th to round out the NC State golfers competing.
The Pack will now shift its focus to its final tournament of the regular season, with the Wolfpack set to face ECU in the I-40 Cup at Carolina Country Club on Apr. 14.
