Five Things to Know: Visit Knoxville Collegiate

MADISON, Wis. Wisconsin men’s golf is back on the road and headed down south to Loudon, Tennessee for the Visit Knoxville Collegiate hosted by Tennessee. The Badgers will play a total of 54 holes between Friday, Sept. 8 – Sunday, September 10.

Here are five things to know before the Badgers tee off:

1. Last Time Out: UW began their fall season this past weekend with the 10th annual Marquette Intercollegiate where they placed 11th at 39-over par after three days of play at Erin Hills. Big Ten Golfer to Watch, Cameron Huss, led the Badgers in their opening tournament at eight-over par to tie for 31st. Transfer Blake Wisdom and freshman James Boustead each made their debut as Badgers at the Intercollegiate, with Wisdom competing in the team lineup and Boustead as an individual.

2. The Course: Tennessee National is slated to host the Visit Knoxville Collegiate at their waterfront golf course. The par-70, 7,280-yard course is set alongside the Tennessee River at the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. A Greg Norman design, the course features revetted pot bunkers and wide fairways, comparable to an Irish or Scottish links design.

3. The Tournament: The Visit Knoxville Collegiate is set to be played from Friday, Sept. 8 to Sunday, Sept. 10 with 18 holes being played on each day. Tee times for the Badgers on Friday begin at 7:30 a.m. CT and will continue through 9:25 a.m. CT. Saturday’s times span from 8:50 a.m. CT to 11:55 a.m. CT and tee times for Sunday will be determined after the first two rounds.

4. The Field: Teams competing include Charlotte, Cincinnati, Clemson, East Tennessee, Mississippi State, Nebraska, North Florida, Ole Miss, South Florida, Toledo, UConn, Virginia Tech, Wisconsin and the host, Tennessee. In the lineup for the Badgers are Cameron Huss, Jacob Beckman, Coalter Smith, Blake Wisdom and Spencer Turtz. McCord Grice will be joining Wisconsin as an individual competitor.
