Virginia Athletics | UVA Heads to Toledo for Glass City Invitational

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 21 Virginia women’s golf travels to Toledo this week for the Glass City Invitational at the par-72, 6,218-yard Inverness Club. The 54-hole tournament will be played on Monday-Tuesday, Sept. 25-26. A 9:30 a.m. shotgun start will open the tournament on Monday with an 8:30 a.m. tee time start scheduled for Tuesday.

Ten schools are competing in the Glass City Invitational. The tourney field includes Florida, Indiana, Kent State, Miami (Fla.), Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, South Florida and Toledo.

Virginia’s lineup features Amanda Sambach, Megan Propeck, Jaclyn LaHa, Rebecca Skoler and Celeste Valinho. Kiera Bartholomew will compete as an individual in her collegiate debut.

UVA is paired with Florida, South Florida and Toledo in the opening round. Those team tee off from the first through fifth holes starting at 9:30 a.m.

Florida captured the inaugural Glass City Invitational in 2019 with a six-over par 870, four strokes in front of Michigan and nine ahead of Michigan State.

Tuesday’s final round will be streamed on ESPN+ beginning at noon. The coverage will include footage from Holes 12, 15, 16 and 18.

UVA opened its season with an eighth-place finish at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate. Sambach was the Cavaliers’ top finisher in eighth place.

The Inverness Club was founded in 1903, and along with the University of Toledo, served as host for the 2009 NCAA Men’s Golf Championships. Inverness hosted the 2021 Solheim Cup in addition to previously hosting four U.S. Opens, two U.S. Senior Opens, two PGA Championships and one U.S. Amateur. In the future, Inverness will host the 2027 U.S. Women’s Open and the 2029 U.S. Amateur.
