Trio of Blue Devils Set for LPGA Stage II Qualifying School

VENICE, Fla. – Stage II of LPGA Qualifying School is set to commence Tuesday with three Blue Devils – Ana Belac, Anne Chen and Erica Shepherd — among the 188 competing for a chance to move on to Q-Series.  Stage II will be contested at the Plantation Golf and Country Club in Venice, Fla., from Oct. 17-20.

All golfers will play 72 holes of golf on the Bobcat and Panther Courses over the week with no cut taking place.  A yet to be determined amount of golfers will advance to the Q-Series, which will take place Nov. 30 through Dec. 5 at the Magnolia Grove Golf Course in Mobile, Ala.

Those golfers completing 72 holes at Stage II and do not advance to the Q-Series will automatically receive 2024 Epson Tour status.

Chen, a current senior on the Duke squad, is coming off an impressive run at Stage I shooting 11-under, 277, to finish tied for sixth at Mission Hills.  In her last event with the Blue Devils at the Jackson T. Stephens Cup, Chen turned in a final round of 3-under, 69, to close the event.  It marked her eighth career round in the 60s and 28th career round of even or under par.

Coming off registering her LPGA Tour card a year ago at Q-Series with a 12-under, 562, Belac totaled $44,852 of earnings in 2023 on the LPGA with one top-10 finish at the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational.  Since turning professional in 2020, Belac has made $205,439 on both the LPGA and Epson Tour.

After graduating from Duke this past May, Shepherd turned professional and has played several events on both the LPGA and Epson Tour.  A two-time All-American with the Blue Devils, Shepherd totaled a 73.12 stroke average along with one victory, six top-5, 10 top-10 and 16 top-20 finishes at Duke.  She collected 39 rounds of even or under par and 10 rounds in the 60s.

Shepherd opens action Tuesday at 1:06 p.m., while Belac tees off at 12:11 p.m., and Chen at 12:22 p.m., all on the Bobcat Course.
