Tiger Christensen Named Pac-12 Co-Golfer of the Week


TUCSON, Ariz. – Junior golfer Tiger Christensen has been named the Pac-12 Conference’s Co-Golfer of the Week following his historic individual win at last week’s Jackson T. Stephens Cup. Christensen earned his first collegiate win with a final score of 19-under par, which set a new program record for a 54-hole event. He carded rounds of 66, 67 and 64 to lead the Wildcats who ended stroke play in second place at 46-under that marked the lowest team score over 54 holes in school history.

Christensen capped his championship run in Dallas last week by shooting 8-under in his final round, becoming the second Wildcat is the last 15 years to record a round of 8-under or lower. His strong finish to stroke play included 28 consecutive holes without a bogey.

The Hamburg, Germany native is the first Arizona golfer win a tournament and a weekly award from the Pac-12 since Zach Pollo was also named co-Golfer of the Week in March after his co-medalist performance at the Arizona NIT.  Christensen, alongside teammate Filip Jakubcik, are participating in the World Amateur Championship this week in Abu Dhabu as they represent their home countries of Germany and the Czech Republic.

Since joining the Wildcats in January of 2023, Christensen has played in a total of 12 events for head coach Jim Anderson with top-10 finishes in five of them. He also qualified for and competed in 151st edition of the Open Championship in July at Royal Liverpool.

Christensen and the rest of the Arizona Men’s Golf program will return to action in 2024, beginning with the Copper Cup versus Arizona State at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Arizona on Sunday, Jan. 14.
