Bears Close Fall Slate At Stanford Intercollegiate

STANFORD – With two straight tournament wins and a 4-3 victory over Stanford in the Big Match, the California women’s golf team heads into this weekend’s Stanford Intercollegiate looking to continue its most prolific stretch in program history.

Seven Golden Bears are traveling to play in the three-day tournament at the par-71, 6,269-yard Stanford Golf Course, which will have 19 total teams in competition this Friday through Sunday.

This will be the second straight year that the Stanford Intercollegiate is taking on the “PlayforHer” mantra as part of an initiative to help raise funds in support of breast cancer research. This year’s tournament – co-hosted by Condoleezza Rice – has been dedicated to Cal head coach Nancy McDaniel.

“The PlayforHer” initiative [Stanford head coach] Anne Walker and I collaborated on for this tournament is about all women with breast cancer,” McDaniel said. “It’s for all that have come before us. It’s for our players, our moms, our daughters and our nieces. This is about getting it right for them.”
