Chip Shots: Erica Lee on Off-Season Prep

Hello Illini Nation!

This is freshman Erica Lee! I am excited to write my first Chip Shots blog and share what is happening in our transition into the off-season.

We have just finished our final tournament of the fall season at the Landfall Tradition, hosted by the University of North Carolina-Wilmington. It was such a great experience and we had the opportunity to stay on the beach! The weather was amazing with clear skies of 75 degrees. As a team, we had our lowest rounds and best finish of the season!

Now that we are back in Champaign, we have officially entered our off-season! The team is taking this opportunity to catch up on studying and really focus on schoolwork. But now that we are back after back-to-back weeks of traveling, we have the chance to work on specific parts of our game.

We had an amazing and engaging first team meeting to start the off-season and had individual meetings with our coaches to discuss our plans for the next couple of weeks. After reflecting on our fall season and the feedback from the coaches, each player created a plan of what aspects of their game to focus on to best prepare them for the spring season.

My first season as a part of the Illinois women’s golf team was an incredible experience filled with so many unforgettable memories. I am looking forward to working on my game these next couple of weeks and leading into the spring season!

I am so excited for what’s to come and grateful to be a part of such a supportive team!

I-L-L!

Erica Lee
