October Student-Athletes of the Month Announced


TUCSON, Ariz. – The student-athletes for the month of October 2023 have been announced by C.A.T.S. Academics and the honorees include Maria Cabanillas (Women’s Golf), Siaosi “Rhino” Tapa’atoutai (Football), Inaki Cabrera Bello (Men’s Tennis) and Kelly Wetteland (Triathlon, Swimming & Diving and Cross Country). 

 

These students were recognized for their commitment to earning their undergraduate degree, the ability to maximize their academic potential, and their dedication to academic improvement and growth. They were chosen as Student Athletes of the Summer by the C.A.T.S. Academic staff. 

 

Maria Cabanillas is in her second semester at Arizona and she is an international student and a Psychology major.  Beginning school as student in the Spring semester, she hit the ground running and has always been ahead of all her assignments for her classes while playing competitive golf.  She always has a positive attitude and is always looking for ways to continue her academic progress and development.” – academic counselors Luisa Bautista and Jennifer Mewes

“Siaosi “Rhino” Tapa’atoutai is a first-year student-athlete who has made a commitment to raise his academic standards this semester. He has improved his work ethic and most importantly, he has maintained his momentum in order to find success in his courses! We are both proud of the strides he has made in his academic career.” – academic counselors Elle McAlister and Elias Ortega

“Inaki Cabrera Bello is a junior who began as a University of Arizona student-athlete Spring 2023. As an international transfer student from Spain, he excelled in both his Spring and Summer courses. This fall, he has been a model student and support for his teammates, helping others and ensuring everyone is upholding their academic responsibilities.” – academic counselor Elle McAlister

“Sophomore Kelly Wetteland is a student-athlete currently participating in three sports; Triathlon, Swimming & Cross Country! She is a double major in Law and Political Science and does an amazing job of managing her time among all her responsibilities. Kelly continues to excel in her sports and in the classroom and has a goal to attend law school once she completes her undergraduate degree requirements.” – academic counselors Andy Salgado and Kelly Amsler
