Men’s Golf Ends Day One in Tie for Fifth Place at Palmas Del Mar Collegiate


HUMACAO, Puerto Rico – Rutgers men’s golf had an impressive showing in the first round of their spring season. The Scarlet Knights shot 286 (-2), good for a fifth-place tie in the 16-team field.
 
Xavier Marcoux led the way for Rutgers, ending day one in a third-place tie. He shot 68 (-4) with the help of four birdies and an eagle on hole three.
 
Martin Leon finished at even par for the day in a tie for 26th. He led the team with 12 pars and added three birdies.
 
Luke Wells and Rhett Sellers both ended the day 1-over. They are tied for 39th out of 99 total golfers. Wells led the team with six birdies. Sellers had an eagle on the third hole.
