Men’s Golf Set for Wake Forest Invitational at Pinehurst


PINEHURST, N.C. – Coming off a top-five finish at The Prestige, the Duke men’s golf team returns to action on Monday and Tuesday at the Wake Forest Invitational, played at Pinehurst No. 2. The 12-team field, hosted by Wake Forest, also includes Auburn, Clemson, College of Charleston, East Tennessee State, Iowa, NC State, Northwestern, SMU, UNCG and a Wake Forest B Team.

Duke, tabbed No. 23 nationally in the most recent ranking from Scoreboard, is one of seven top-50 teams in the field, joined by No. 1 Auburn, No. 15 East Tennessee State, No. 35 SMU, No. 39 UNCG, No. 40 Wake Forest and No. 44 Northwestern.

Duke has participated in this event in each of the last four seasons and has secured top-five placements in two of the last three iterations, including a fourth-place finish in 2021 and a second-place finish in 2022. 

This season, the Blue Devils start a lineup of Luke Sample, Bryan Kim, Ethan Evans, William Love and Kelly Chinn. Ian Siebers is also in the field, playing individually. Pinehurst No. 2 plays to a par of 70 and to a distance of 7,125 yards.

The first two rounds are played on Monday, starting with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m., ET. The Blue Devils’ lineup begins on holes No. 5-8, playing alongside UNCG and NC State, with continuous play for the second round. Siebers’ day starts on No. 18, playing with individuals from Northwestern and East Tennessee State.

The field will be re-paired based on standings following the opening day of action for the third and final round on Tuesday. Live scoring on both days is available on Golfstat.

Duke started its spring portion of the season with a tie for fifth at The Prestige after a 12-under, 840, in three rounds of action. Evans and Kim led the way for the Blue Devils, finishing in a tie for seventh and 11th, respectively, at 7-under and 6-under. Love played in the individual tournament and grabbed a share of second place with a 6-under effort.
