Gators Finish Play at SEC Championship


Playing in her first SEC Championship, Inès Archer led the Gators with a T20 performance.

BELLEAIR, Fla. – The Florida women’s golf team finished play at the SEC Championship on Sunday at Pelican Golf Club.

The Gators ended in 13th with a team score of 877 and did not make match play for the first time in two seasons. 

UF will now find out its regional selection on April 24 live on Golf Channel. This year’s regional sites include Auburn, Ala., Cle Elum, Wash., College Station, Texas, East Lansing, Mich., Las Vegas, N.V. and Winston-Salem, N.C. 

Playing in her first postseason, Inès Archer led the Gators with a T20 performance. The freshman shot the lowest round on the final day in the lineup with an even-par 70 for 54-hole score of 214 (+4). She had six birdies in the final round and owned an average of 2.82 (-2) on par3s.

The second top-25 by a Gator golfer came from Maisie Filler (+6) for her sixth top-25 of the season, tied for a team-best with Archer. A shot back of Filler was Marina Escobar in T30 with a tournament score of 217 (+7)

Carding her best round of the tournament was Paula Francisco with a 74 (+4). She finished in 65th as Sophie Stevens was subbed in for the final round and shot a 76 (+6).
