Men’s Golf Through Three Rounds of Pac-12 Championships


CAREFREE, Ariz. (April 27, 2024) – Washington State men’s golf finished rounds two and three in day two of the 2024 Pac-12 Men’s Golf Championships on Saturday at the par 71, 7,203-yard Desert Forest Golf Club.

WSU finished round two at 34-over, 389 and round three at 22-over, 377 to put its three-round score at 82-over, 1,147, putting the Cougs in 12th place. The team will finish the tournament with round four on Sunday morning.

Fifth year Pono Yanagi ended round three in a tie for 34th at 14-over, 227. Yanagi mixed a trio of birdies in between six bogeys and two double bogeys in round two to register a 7-over, 78 in round two. Then in round three, he shot a 5-over, 76 behind 11 pars and an eagle on hole nine.

Senior Drayton Joseph is also tied for 34th through three rounds at 14-over, 227. He put together a pair of strong rounds, starting with a 3-over round two score of 74 behind two birdies, two bogeys, and a triple bogey on hole seven. He was in even more of a groove in round three where, after a 2-over back nine, he carded three birdies on the front nine to end the round at 1-over, 72.

Senior Nate Plaster is 17-over, 230 after three rounds, and sits in a tie for 47th. Plaster birdied hole four in round one in his 9-over, 80 round two, but was able to rattle off a team-best five birdies in round three to finish with a 4-over score of 75.

Redshirt freshman Ben Borgida is in 62nd at 23-over, 236 through three rounds. He struggled to find consistency in round two with an 11-over, 82, but was able to cut strokes off in round three, parring 12 holes for a 7-over, 78.

Sophomore Sam Renner is in 67th after round three with a 29-over score of 242. Renner shot four birdies in round two, but some bogeys added to the mix ended up putting him at 10-over, 81. He added another four birdies in round three, but posted a cleaner round at 5-over, 76.

Senior Preston Bebich shot a 5-over, 76 round two, but didn’t score in round three.

The Cougars will finish the Pac-12 Men’s Golf Championships on Sunday in the tournament’s final round, teeing off at 8:36 a.m. PT.
