Davis' 8-Under Propels Lady Vols at Day One of NCAA Regionals

Bermuda Run, N.C. – Tennessee women’s golf finished the day tied for second place at the Bermuda Run NCAA Regional on Monday, spearheaded by junior Bailey Davis’ 8-under (64).

Her round one performance was the lowest score at all six NCAA Regional sites on Monday and the lowest round in an NCAA Regional in program history.

With two more rounds to complete on Tuesday and Wednesday at Bermuda Run Golf Course, Tennessee sits one stroke behind defending national champion Wake Forest at 278 (-10), the second-lowest team score in the school’s history at NCAA events (276 at the San Antonio Regional in 2015).

Davis started her day with a birdie on hole one, shortly followed by an eagle on the par-5 hole 4, her second of the season and one of three at today’s tournament. She birdied holes nine, 10, 11, 15 and 17 and holds a three-stroke lead at the top of the individual leaderboard.

Kayla Holden also started the tournament strong, bouncing back from a hole-two bogey to post a 3-under (69). The senior is currently tied for fifth place headed into Tuesday’s action.

Sophomore Manassanan Chotikabhukkana shot even-par (72) to finish the day tied for 22nd, and senior Vanessa Gilly birdied three of her final six holes to finish the day at 1-over and tied for 32nd.
