University of Missouri men’s golf opens the spring season this week, competing in the National Invitational Tournament in Tucson, Arizona, hosted by the University of Arizona, Feb. 3-4.
TOURNAMENT INFO
Play begins Monday, Feb. 3 on the Catalina course at the OMNI Tucson National Golf Club, a par-72 course that measures 7,000 yards.
MU will be competing in a field of 14 teams including No. 11 Arizona, No. 36 BYU, No. 43 USC, Fresno State, Iowa State, Loyola Marymount, New Mexico, New Mexico State, Oral Roberts, Saint Mary’s, Santa Clara, UCSB and Wyoming.
The schools are set to play 36 holes during the opening day of action, before a final 18 holes on Tuesday.
2024 NIT RECAP
Missouri posted a season-low three-round team score of 830 to finish fifth of 18 in Arizona a year ago, marking the seventh-best team total in school history. Individually, Jack Lundin carded a season-best 15-under on his way to a top-five finish.
FALL RECAP
The highlight of the fall campaign was a second-place finish at the Canadian Collegiate Invitational, where the team finished 12 under-par.
Individually, Virgilio Paz leads Mizzou with a 72.58 stroke average and carded his first event win at the Golfweek Invitational.
LAST TIME OUT
Mizzou closed out their fall season competing in The Clerico in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Tigers finished the tournament in ninth place as a team, with Paz placing 11th (+5) individually.
