Women's Golf Wraps Up Gators Invitational


GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The NC State women’s golf team wrapped up the second day of action at the VyStar Credit Union Gators Invitational on Sunday afternoon, finishing the week in a tie for 12th place alongside ACC foe Miami.
 
After a weather delay on Saturday, the tournament was shortened to just 36 holes of play, with Lauren Olivares Leon leading the way for the Wolfpack with a two-round score of 147 (+7).
 
One shot behind Olivares Leon was Natalie Armbruester, whose second-round effort of 72 (+2) was the Pack’s lowest 18-hole score of the week. Ambruester led the week of with a six-over 76 in round one en route to finishing in a tie for 35th place.
 
Freshman Vania Simont improved her first-round score by five shots in round two, following up a nine-over 79 with a final-round finish of 74 (+4). Simont finished the week in a tie for 57th place at 153 (+13)
 
Isabel Amezcua and Jaclyn Kenzel both rounded out the scoring effort for the Pack at 159 (+19), each finishing the week in a tie for 67th place.

Tournament host Florida claimed the team title with a 36-hole total of 563 (+3), while UCF’s Pimpisa Sisutham claimed medalist honors after winning a three-hole playoff.

 

NC State returns to action for the penultimate tournament of the regular season slate at the Briar’s Creek Invitational Mar. 13-14 at the Golf Club at Briar’s Creek in Johns Island, S.C.
