APRIL EAGER TO FULFILL HER LET DREAMS

Chanoknan Angurasaranee

Chanoknan Angurasaranee has always dreamed of playing on the Ladies European Tour (LET) and this week gets the chance to try to realise that goal.

The 18-year-old made her LET debut earlier this season at the Trust Golf Asian Mixed Cup where she finished in a share of sixth place and as the top female in the event.

At the time, Angurasaranee said: “It was very tense the first couple of holes, I got really nervous, and it was still tense up until I got my first birdie, and then that made me relax and freed me up a lot so I could get in the zone.

“My driver has been incredibly great through the week, my irons were good today as well, but I missed a couple of greens, but luckily my up and downs were good as well to save pars.

“My goal is to get in the top ten on Epson Tour and to try to get into the LPGA and seeing the other Thai girls do well gives me the motivation to go after it and makes me believe I can go there and do it too.”

The Thai teenager has been in the United States for the majority of the year plying her craft on the Epson Tour with her best result coming at the Twin Bridges Championship in July where she finished T4.

And after making it to the Final Stage of LPGA Q-Series, Angurasaranee unfortunately missed the cut at the end of the first week but the fact she played meant was automatically exempt into the LET’s Final Qualifier.

The last stage of the 2023 LET Q-School will see 146 players tee it up at La Manga Club on the North and South Courses.

Players will alternate which course they play for the first four rounds before there is a cut to the top 60 and ties, and the fifth round will take place on the South Course.

The 18-year-old is hoping to have a good week in Spain, she said: “I’m very much looking forward to this week. I have always wanted to play and be on the LET, so this week is going to be really fun, and I look forward to being on the Tour.

“I think the courses are really nice. It’s challenging on some of the holes and if it’s windy it can be quite a challenge.

“It’s been a rough year. I haven’t had a good break in America yet, but I’m looking forward to having a good week here and hopefully getting on the LET.”
