HOUSTON, Texas – Redshirt junior Jake Hall shot a three-round total of 7-under and claimed his first career individual title at the All-American Intercollegiate Tuesday at the Golf Club of Houston.
Hall’s 7-under performance is his second-best 54-hole score in relation to par. Throughout the tournament, the Knoxville native tallied 10 birdies and an eagle en route to his second career top-five finish.
Hall shot 4-under in round one, 3-under in round two, and even-par in the final round to log his 45th career round of par or better.
With Hall’s win, seven Vols have now won tournaments under the direction of head coach Brennan Webb. Hall joins his current teammates Bryce Lewis (2022 Purdue Fall Invitational) and Caleb Surratt (2022 Maui Jim Invitational) as Vol golfers to capture an individual title this season.
As a team, the 14th-ranked Tennessee men’s golf team tied with Louisville for second place after shooting 5-under for the event. UT’s third round score of 285 was the second-best in the 21-team field.
Surratt was UT’s second-highest finisher and tied for sixth place. The true freshman shot par or better in each round, including a 3-under 69 on Tuesday to get to 4-under overall. Surratt now has three top-10 finishes this season.
Finishing tied for 12th place after climbing 16 spots on the final day was Lewis, who shot a 3-under 69 to finish 1-under. The Hendersonville native provided three counting rounds and had the second-most birdies in the 108-player field with 14.
Redshirt freshman Lance Simpson provided two counting rounds for the Vols and shot 7-over to tie for 48th place.
Cade Russell was the final member of Tennessee’s lineup. Russell shot 11-over for the two days and ended in 67th place.
In the All-American Individual, Laurent Desmarchais registered his highest career finish of second place after shooting a 2-under 70 in round three to get to 6-under in total.
Following one stroke behind Desmarchais was Josh Hill, who shot a final round 1-under 71 to claim a career-best third place finish.
The last Vol to compete in the individual tournament was Evan Woosley-Reed, who shot 1-over in round three to finish the tournament at 7-over. The true freshman finished tied for 11th place.
