Hawkeyes Finish 2nd; Post 5th-Best Score in Program History – University of Iowa Athletics

LUBBOCK, Texas – All five University of Iowa women’s golfers finished in the top-25, helping the Hawkeyes to a runner-up team finish at the Red Raider Invitational, which wrapped up Tuesday at The Rawls Course. The Hawkeyes finished with a 876 total (291-290-295), tying the fifth-best 54-hole score in program history.

Sophomore Kaitlyn Hanna notched the highest finish and first top-20 finish of her career, tying for 12th at with a 219 total. The 54-hole total is the best of her career and her second round 72 matched her career-best round.

Sophomore Shannyn Vogler and freshman Ximena Benites both tied for 18th with 222s. Vogler had the team’s best round of the day, shooting a one-over par 73, while Benites posted her third straight 74. It was Vogler’s third career top 20 finish and the first for Benites.

Dabagia and Miranda both finished among the top 25 in the field. Dabagia shot a two-over par 74 on Tuesday en route to a 223 total (79-70-74) to tie for 21st, while Miranda tied for 24th with a 224 (73-74-77).

Host Texas Tech ran away with the team title, finishing with a 17-under 847. The Red Raiders’ Maja Ambroziak was the individual medalist, shooting a seven-under par 209.

“The team put together three consistent rounds. We all feel like things are trending in a positive direction. It was great to play with a really good Texas Tech team today and we walked away knowing we need to finish stronger and continue to work to have great speed on the greens. Ximena had a nice first team outing and it was great to see Kaitlyn post another career best.”
